WASTE EXPRESS

What is Waste?

Any useless, damaged, rotten, obsolete object that cannot be used by any creature is known as waste.

From where does this waste comes from and why is created?

According to me the two most important things that contribute majorly to this are urbanization and industrialization which involves growing needs and standard of living of the people which requires setting up of industries to meet the needs of the people accordingly.

In this modern world these two things are quite common but the problem here is how waste is

Directly proportional to these and does it means that people don’t care about this environment and are ready to face future consequences by generating it.

Why is it that the richer people are major contributor to waste rather than poor even if they are said to be more intelligent than them?

Not only these questions but there are millions of questions that occur by the socially motivated people but their hands are tied and they don’t do anything about it just like us

In the rest of the world there has been development of various technologies to handle the waste and the people who have resources generally engage in these business but they doesn’t know that setting up of industries is also causing the same problem.

We don’t complain about it and we really appreciates them that they do something about these waste and protect the environment but the mindset being developed is that people think that the companies created could handle their waste which make them less concerned towards the environment.

Our question here is why all these things if one can use the most powerful weapon that is educating the people about it.

In this world there are various types of news that one can hear and can be timely updated but there is no news on waste and its management been posted or shared regularly which is also one of the major topic of issues contributing towards the society.

There are some people who used to write blogs and create awareness among the people but these things don’t last long if not being regular. There are lot of information being available online no one has enough time to read it.

Not only this, in this world people regularly meet their needs which means regularly welcoming waste but if they are regularly posted about the waste at least not in a while but they do consider that there is a need that something should be done about it otherwise they would end up in landfill as well.

Therefore we would like to start a new project of daily news in the form of waste express to keep people timely updated on what is being going around the world regarding waste management, what are the techniques people in the rest of the world adopt in order to keep environment clean and live a happy and safe life.

According to us, this initiative can create a positive impact on people and educate them if there has been a generation of waste what should be done about it and how to handle it accordingly.

My Journey with El Nafeza(Window)

(Egypt)

“El Nafeza” the word in itself speaks aloud the creativity, talent, humanity etc at the global level surpassing the boundaries of Egypt.

El Nafeza is basically an NGO (Non-Profit Organisation) which was started in 2005 in Egypt that helps the environment by converting rice straws into paper and then working towards creation of handmade products like notebooks, lantern, carry bags, pencil stand etc which becomes an attraction for the tourist from all over the world.

My journey with this NGO started through AIESEC which helped me in meeting an extraordinary NGO with extremely talented and creative people that bestowed unflinching support.

During my early stages of working in this NGO, I felt like “where have I come?”, Would we be able to communicate with each other or not, as it was an Arabic country” and many more questions popped up every now and then in my mind justifying my inhibitions.

But somewhere, at some corner I had a gut feeling that my days with this NGO would be a mind-blowing learning experience, So, I believed my instincts and continued to initially drag myself off the bed and attend El Nafeza almost every day.

As days passed by, I was bewildered by the amazing people, their artistic talents and patience that helped me gain my confidence and determination, “Kudos to my gut feeling”!!!!!

It was like my second home where I was enjoying, having fun teaching Hindi and learning Arabic and dining together with the adorable people of El Nafeza.

Infact I felt proud of myself to be connected with this NGO when me and my team of El Nafeza found our way in reputed news channels like “BBC Arabic” and “France24”.We also held the exhibition of  decorative paper works in one of the largest exhibition centres “The Cairo international book fair” that was highly applauded by the visiting tourist.

                    Clipping from BBC Arabic

                      Clipping from France24

Now with each passing day, I could feel my sentiments, my heartfelt connection with the people of My NGO growing and when I returned back to India, I had those adorable and nostalgic feeling.

Through this article, I want to extend my love and gratitude to the entire El Nafeza family who made me feel home when I was far from home. I am very fortunate to be connected with this NGO “El Nafeza”.

Its time to wake up!!!

It’s time for us to listen to the voices of one of the nature’s best creatures, the animals!!

Recently, I have come across various types of news on the scale from worst to best. Some of the them, I believe, I can share it with you all.

So, without wasting further time, lets make your day from worst to best, I hope that should be what you want,

With it, my first question arises,

how many of you loves animals?

Let me rephrase the question,

if we have pet, shouldn’t it be our responsibility to look after them?

So, what happens to us when we throw the waste in the ocean or on the streets!!

Our care for animals just fades away, right?

I suppose yes as an answer to this question,

According to a survey,

700 marine species are currently threatened with extinction due to the risk of ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic waste. Seabirds, fish, dolphins, polar bears, turtles, and even the largest species of whales are among those affected. The ingestion of plastic kills an estimated 1 million seabirds and 100,000 other marine animals every year.

On our land also, millions of street dogs, cats die just by consuming trash, let alone all the other creatures…

So yeah, this comes as worst news for me, and its time to treat these animals as our pets too and stop throwing waste in oceans or streets and places where you are sure, some animals might roam around searching for food to eat.

But it was not my intention make your day bad,

So, like I said, on my path to brighter news,

I am sure you have come across a video of an elephant picking up a can!!

If not, I have shared a video,

From what I gathered, we think that we are the most intelligent creatures on the planet, but we have stopped showing concerns to the things, those small things that matters the most to us, to our society, to our environment, to our planet.

So, if these animals who don’t have brains and are being called wild for such reasons have their way to keep their house clean, Why shouldn’t we think in that way?

Keeping this in mind would help in eliminating waste from our environment on a mass scale.

So, start thinking about these animals in both ways, at least these brainless creatures are warning us that time has come to listen to nature’s voice, its signals, neglecting this would land us in deep trouble!!

Systematic management of waste-

Like being said, every genius activity starts with one’s own step, be it in our household, companies, hotels etc, likewise, we can also quote that the management of waste done at one’s personal level can also create everlasting results.

These days, there has been a significant boost in the schemes being implemented by our government and also taking into the consideration creative inventions of the intelligent mind,

With all these initiatives, there comes a scope of reduction of waste to some extent.

But the question arises, till when?

Sooner or later, such elimination will be compensated with creation of another set of waste which will compensated with another one and on and on, and soon a time will come, when there would be absolutely no control on waste by anybody be it our government or private sector,

nd of-course till when would they be able to control the waste for us!!!

As you all witnessed, in our country, there has been an important initiative taken by government to open proper dumping yard for storing our daily waste for example Okhla landfill site or Ghazipur landfill site, but they are also on the verge of being fallen due to an increase in the dumping of waste.

So, like I said, every initiative if taken at individual level will lead to extraordinary result,

Following are some points which I prefer would help in making those big changes-

  • First of all, I would like to tell you about the availability of recycled bins in markets which our quite cheaper than the original once and I did not find any difference between the original and the recycled one in terms of style, colour etc.

I know that some of you know about it, so why not purchased till now?

  • But, let me come to my main point,

Since there has been a lot going on about segregating and all, so, why not we start this process at our homes and makes the work of municipality even easier. So, in relation to the first point, since these bins are cheaper in cost, and some recycled bins can be purchased at a cost of an original bin so why not purchase two instead of one.

And after that I know what you all have to do!!!!!!!

One bin for biodegradable and one for non-biodegradable.

  • Second, in our locality/society, we all have a people’s community (resident welfare association) to handle all the important activities of our society be it related to complaints, cleanliness, developments etc.

And there is no denying the fact that we all have gardens or grounds in our locality/society.

So, why not discuss about self-composting with the larger bodies or if we don’t have time, then why not hiring a gardener to look after it with creation and maintenance of pit in some isolated area in the park to decompose all our biodegradable waste.

  • Third and the last point which I wanted to mention is about the waste management in our vehicles.

I know it sounds odd but what I mean to say is why we can’t install a bag in our vehicles to collect the waste and throw them later at some dumping site rather than adopting the policy of eating and throwing at the same time in our vehicles.

I know that with each initiative there comes disadvantages like money, time etc etc….

But at some point, of time, we have to do it, so why not adopt it now?

In the end, I conclude with,

“ No matter how much the government or other party help us in managing our waste, a time will come when we will be left all alone with this bunch of garbage piling up day by day and one would not be able to do anything about it, but why fear if it is possible to handle it now, so time has come, start as soon as possible, our environment is in danger”

Defining the proper definition of plastic-

The following post would take you on a ride with various initiatives taken by households and companies, thus, giving a proper funeral to plastic.

Plastic, the heart and soul as item holder of various items, can be seen as a really important stuff without which, our day to day shopping is not possible, and of course without plastic how can we bring goods in our homes or any place be it food, any antique from roadside beautiful artisans or groceries, I mean one cannot imagine a life without plastic until and unless like few people, we develop a habit of carrying jute bags every time with us.

But like every item that we consume or decorate our homes with, this process generates a life in them which is then admired by our body or people who visit us at homes and keeps us happy, but, Have anybody thought about life of plastic, what it is going through?

I believe, it is living a life of being ditched because every item that it has given support to, has a proper usage, but leading to end of its’s life and without a proper funeral it is being thrown to a dumping yard or a landfill site.

But I have come here to give appreciation to people who have given a proper life to plastic, making it productive by bringing it to life, make other people astonished with a decent smile with what it was and what it has been with the help of such people.

These are some of the best pictures I found on internet and realizes that the firms or the household doing this, have helped plastic rest in peace.

So why not us, if we use plastic bottles or any other items made up of plastic, takes the step to use them wonderfully rather than leaving it behind leading to its bad death.

In the end, I conclude with,

“Like a human being who had died but had given support to all, encourages all, stood with others in their difficulties is welcomed with proper, nice funeral and whose history stood in our mind, similar is with those plastic objects be it bottles, trays etc who needs its proper funeral by being created into some of the pictures shown above, so that they would also be remembered by all”

TEMPLE WASTE

“We worship our gods in temple but in the end, we need to worship our nature or environment also which provides us the way to live, breathe or eat. So, let’s save it”.

A very hearty good morning to all,

On this very day, I want to convey my thoughts on something related to waste which is not common to be noticed by us.

These types of waste are revealed later but first of all let me apprise the people all over the world about our religious country.

Here we have more than 2 million Hindu temples recorded during the 2001 census, whose number has substantially increased by now. Kerala—28,000 Bagvathy temples (Travancore and Cochin Devaswam Board –TCDB-alone has 1800 temple) (Four South Indian States alone total over 108,000 temples) and many more temples if mentioned in this blog would take the entire day.

So, whenever people from abroad, you come to India you can find temples at almost every corner.

But here one problem arises which is often outlooked and not much has been done about it, the thing I am talking about is flowers or other items which are being thrown into nearby river or dumping ground which often creates a mess.

Around 15tons of flower waste are regularly been generated at temples in a specific state.

This problem is huge and a threat to the river so something is needed to be done about it.

So, since you all know every problem has its solution, here in our country there are some guys but incredible guys who have thought about it and had find a mind-blowing solution.

Let me introduce you to these guys and their initiative “Help Us Green”.

Here I have shown a video which can bring you to the exact problem and the initiative these people have taken to cure it.

They have also met the employment problem of women who helps them and the society in collecting the temple waste and reintroducing products made from it into the society.

These products come in wide variety and if you want to look at it here, I have given a link to website-

all

So, I conclude with the importance of this initiative which is required in almost every part India as well as around the world to solve this unnoticeable problem and these people have found the solution to it so let’s make them more popular.

With this, our today’s underlying statement stands-

“We worship our gods in temple but in the end, we need to worship our nature or environment also which provides us the way to live, breathe or eat. So, let’s save it”.

SLOPPY BINS

One cannot blame the age when it comes to protection of environment , if you want to protect it you will protect it.

View post to subscribe to site newsletter.

Hello guys, Today mark the 73rd Independence Day of our country, So, first of all “Happy Independence Day”.

On this special day, I want to talk about those people whose commitment towards environment and nature cannot be measured.

Secondly, this man proved that age factor is not an excuse to invent or design new things to protect our motherland from harmful waste.

So, let me introduce you to an 87-year-old mech engineer Mr. Ghosh whose invention may not be some huge but has a significant impact on our society as well as environment.

From this picture, you may be wondering what is significant about this bin. But notice carefully and with respect to today’s title this bin has an advantage of being “sloppy”.

The idea behind it is that, the circulation of these bins can reduce the work of garbage collectors as these bins can automatically make the waste cleared off once the front hatch is been opened.

Small size bins for household

The advantage of these bins is that they do not involve some hi-technology so is cheap, can provide protection of waste from animals and also does not allow rain droplets to pour into the bin during the time of rain.

Such bins are being available in three different sizes for different areas mainly houses, locality or school but requires popularity.

So, lets commit to purchase of such bins if we want to purchase bins further in the future and I request schools and locality also that the setup of such cheap bins can benefit them also. So, the underlying message is-

“Age is not a factor when it comes to helping the nature so if anyone has excuses that the next person to them can implement something for the society, let me tell you, you are in the wrong direction”

Bamboo Magic

The following post brings you to the people or we can call them artisans for creation of stiff, strong bamboo and cane products in the state none other than our “Assam”.
The reason I chose this topic is because these items can surely help in reduction or even elimination of waste from our environment.

Hello guys,

In all my post till now, we have discussed majorly on foreign technology which if been adopted in India can solve a significant amount of problems related to waste or various steps been taken by government to eradicate the waste from our environment.

But today, I would like to tell you that our country is also not behind as the people in some part of our country are being so loyal to their motherland that they our ready to do anything to eliminate the generation of waste in any form.

And to introduce these people or you can call them artisans, let me take you to our North Eastern state of India “Assam”.

By reading the news regarding innovation in Assam, the first thing that came in my mind, is this a Bamboo state or what? And why not, with everything made of bamboo and cane, these artisans in the state wins the heart of all the general public.

Cane and bamboo are the two most commonly-used materials in daily life in Assam. Products ranging from household implements to construction of dwelling houses to weaving accessories to musical instruments are made in bamboo. There are innumerable types and shapes of the bamboo basket, varying with the use to which they are put. The men of the household usually weave the bamboo baskets.

One of the bamboo beds made by artisans in Assam.

Not only this, products like dolls and toys are also made with cane and bamboo. Apart from human and animal figures, toy shotguns and musical instruments are crafted. Umbrella handles made of bamboo are a specialty and have designs of leaves, creepers, plants, rings, and crosses etched on them. A special variety of bamboo known as the muli is used for the handles.

Here is a small video that show you all these bamboo and cane items been made and sold in the state.

These initiatives being taken are really cheap and does not harm the environment in any ways, are strong, stiff and what not.

The excellent and the most crucial factor here is they can be reuse for a significant amount of time.

So being inspired by them, let’s increase the demand for their products and contribute to reduction in generation of waste in our society.

“Let us become the owner of bamboo products and help our leader to be alive (Environment)”

PLANT MEAT

This post will create a doubt in your mind, where is waste here?
But let me bring you to the notice the meat production also create a deep impact as much as waste.
This post will clear all your thoughts and would amaze you with the innovation too.

Meat Burger(Source-website)

Does your mouth become watery by seeing this…?

The concept been used will also change the way we see it.

So, Hello guys,

Today I would like to talk about an invention that is not even close to waste but has a deep impact on our environment and society.

So, from the title of today’s post, I think I know that the first thing in our mind would be “How is plant related to meat”?

Why this burger’s photo been used?

But let me tell you, that’s is the surprising concept of today.

In our society, consumption of meat can have a huge impact on our environment and in fact, it has such a devastating effect on all aspects of our environment that the Union of Concerned Scientists lists meat-eating as the second-biggest environmental hazard facing the Earth. … According to the Environmental Protection Agency, raising animals for food is the number-one source of water pollution.

But don’t worry,

With technological advancement, people too have a solution for it and it is mindboggling.

Let me introduce you to an American based company “Beyond Meat” which has changed the whole concept of meat.

This company has a lot to provide and is completely different from various food companies.

Let me show you a small video of their product(burger) which has been produced using this initiative-

Such concept can have a major impact on our society, environment and also save the life of fauna to maximum possible extent.

This company provides a lot of products for consumption which can be felt luscious just by just looking at them and with of course some new healthy taste.

Here I have provided a link to the company’s website, go check it out you will be shocked as I was-

SIMPLE HACKS FOR MANAGING WASTE-

The vision of waste express is to create a responsibility and a vision to heal the environment.
This post shows some simple hacks to manage the waste which people create commonly.

This post is entirely as per my believing, so, it would be an honor if you would look through it.

Here I come “Good Morning” once again. Hope you are doing well.

Today, I would like to represent you some simple techniques that can be used at our homes, vehicles in managing our day to day waste.

  • First of all, I would like to tell you about the availability of recycled bins in markets which our quite cheaper than the original once and I did not find any difference between the original and the recycled one in terms of style, color etc.
